Overview

A private equity–backed renewable energy investment platform is seeking an accomplished financial leader to serve as its Chief Financial Officer. The CFO will oversee all financial, strategic, and operational finance functions as the firm scales its Commercial & Industrial (C&I) solar, storage, and distributed energy platform across Europe.

The role requires deep expertise in project finance, corporate finance, and energy infrastructure investments. The successful candidate will drive capital formation, ensure robust financial governance, and partner with the CEO and Investment Committee to support disciplined growth, efficient capital deployment, and long-term value creation.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
  • Lead the overall financial strategy for the distributed energy platform, ensuring alignment with growth objectives and investor requirements.
  • Develop and oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and capital allocation processes.
  • Advise the CEO and senior leadership on financial performance, market dynamics, and long-term strategic planning.
  • Prepare board materials, investment papers, and financial performance reporting.
Capital Formation & Structuring
  • Lead capital-raising activities, including equity, debt, and structured finance for C&I solar, storage, and distributed energy portfolios.
  • Build relationships with lenders, financial institutions, and investors to secure project-level and corporate financing.
  • Oversee structuring of PPAs, lease-based financing models, and project SPV economics.
Financial Operations & Controls
  • Establish and maintain strong internal financial controls, risk management frameworks, and compliance processes across the business.
  • Oversee accounting, audit, treasury, tax, and reporting functions across multiple European jurisdictions.
  • Implement systems and processes to support scalable growth of a pan-European asset platform.
Portfolio & Asset Finance Management
  • Monitor financial and operational performance of the existing C&I solar and distributed generation portfolio.
  • Lead optimization initiatives including refinancing, portfolio aggregation, and monetization strategies.
  • Ensure alignment with ESG, regulatory, and performance KPIs.
Strategic Partnerships
  • Collaborate with investment, development, and asset management teams to evaluate new market opportunities.
  • Support negotiations for joint ventures, platform acquisitions, and corporate partnerships.
  • Develop financial structures enabling rapid deployment of capital into mid-scale clean energy assets.
Candidate Profile
Experience & Skills
  • 12–14 years of experience in renewable energy, infrastructure private equity, project finance, or corporate finance leadership roles.
  • Proven track record as a CFO or senior finance executive in a growth-oriented energy, infrastructure, or capital-intensive business.
  • Deep understanding of C&I solar economics, PPA structures, and distributed energy financing models.
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation, and capital-raising expertise across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience managing complex investor, lender, and developer relationships.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic advisory skills.
