We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented individual to join our Data Center Engineering Operations Team. This team works to maintain the critical physical infrastructure that supports our Data Center Organization within Amazon, ensuring data center operation at high availability and delivering first-class customer service to relevant teams.

Role overview
The Data Center Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) is responsible for operating and maintaining all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center. The EOT serves as a technical resource to support Amazon within its owned and operated data centers. This equipment supports mission-critical servers and uptime better than 99.999%. EOTs drive innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities.

Responsibilities

• You will assist in the operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment within the data center/facility.
• You will assist in maintenance and monitoring of all Data Center systems, including incidents/events, problems, changes, monitoring, escalation/notification/resolution and other Data Center support aspects.
• You will monitor and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, voice/data, chiller systems and generators.
• You will provide assistance to contractors or data center engineers to ensure proper operation and maintenance of facility equipment covered under level I plus areas in which you are certified (e.g., fiber optic, electrical certification, HVAC repair, UPS/generator certifications and training).
• You will assist contractors or data center engineers to deploy new equipment (e.g., building racks, cabling) and perform other necessary tasks.
• You will respond to internal Rack customer maintenance, repair and expansion requests through the ticketing system.
• You will perform site walkthroughs to verify proper operation of Facility Equipment and Monitoring Systems.
• You will maintain changes in state in Mission Critical infrastructure in support of corrective/preventive maintenance.
• You will review the test quality, performance, safety, and reliability of products, equipment, and processes.

Basic Qualifications

- You have technical training (military/trade school) or equivalent experience in the field.

- You have several years of relevant work experience, ideally within data center operations.

- This role requires you to be a national of an EU member state.

Preferred Qualifications

- You have several years of experience in a data center environment.

- You hold an associates or bachelor’s degree in an applicable engineering field or mechanical/electrical trades.

- Certified electrician according to German regulations.
