Job summary

Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking a Surgical Technologist I to join our perioperative team. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will scrub in, handle instruments, supplies and equipment, and anticipate the needs of the surgeon to support safe, high-quality patient care.

The role also includes duties in other ancillary Perioperative Services and requires CST certification with NBSTSA or NCCT, BLS, and a high school diploma or GED; an Associate's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CST certification from NBSTSA or NCCT within 12 months of hire/transfer date.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Associate's Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a scrub person handling instruments, supplies and equipment during surgery.
• Anticipates needs of the surgeon and surgical team to ensure quality patient care.
• Assists with support services in delivering care to operative patients, including transport and inventory management.
• Maintains environmental cleanliness and provides direct assistance to patients, visitors and staff.
• Role includes assignments in other ancillary Perioperative Services.

Summary

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technologist I acts as a scrub person who handles instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure, anticipates the needs of the surgeon and surgical team and has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care; Responsible for assisting with support services in the delivery of care to operative patients, including transportation, independent inventory management, environmental cleanliness and direct assistance to patients, visitors and staff. This role includes assignments in other ancillary roles within Perioperative Services.
