Position Overview: Buyer - Materials Procurement (all genders)

As a Buyer (m/f/d) in Materials Procurement, you will play a key role in sourcing and managing materials essential for industrial battery production. In this position, you will ensure supply security, cost efficiency, sustainability, and adherence to international compliance standards. You will be working in a dynamic, fast‑growing, and strategically important industry.

Key Responsibilities
Sourcing & Supplier Management
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships locally, ensuring supply reliability and long‑term partnerships.
  • Conduct contract negotiations for pricing, supply security, and sustainability commitments.
  • Manage supplier relationships.
  • Lead end‑to‑end procurement processes (RFI/RFP, bid evaluation, contract negotiation, and PO management).
Market Intelligence & Risk Management
  • Monitor markets, price trends, and supply‑demand dynamics.
  • Mitigate risks related to supply scarcity, price volatility, and regulatory changes.
  • Secure long‑term contracts or strategic alliances to protect the business from shortages.
Sustainability & Compliance
  • Ensure sourcing practices align with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade, customs, and industry regulations.
Collaboration & Business Support
  • Collaborate with finance on budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimisation.
  • Partner with engineering and production teams to align procurement with product development and manufacturing needs.
Requirements
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Materials Science, Engineering, or Business.
  • An advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, ISM) are considered a strong plus.
Experience:
  • 5-7 years of professional experience in procurement or supply chain management.
  • Hands‑on experience with commodity‑based components, ideally in battery assembly or related sectors.
  • Proven track record in managing global suppliers, negotiating contracts, and mitigating market risks.
  • Practical experience with SAP systems is required.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Fluency in German and English (both written and verbal) is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Effective team player with strong collaboration abilities.
