Sodecia seeks a Buyer – BOM Commodity & Resident Buyer to join its European Purchasing team in Saarlouis. The role combines European BOM commodity management with plant purchasing leadership, interfacing with Global Purchasing and site management.

You will develop sourcing strategies, manage supplier relationships, support new business, and work with cross-functional teams on NPI and industrialization initiatives. Willingness to travel nationally and internationally is required.

Qualifikationen

Aufgaben

• Maintain market intelligence and monitor raw material trends affecting the assigned commodity.
• Act as the primary Purchasing interface at the Saarlouis Plant and with Global Purchasing.
• Prepare sourcing recommendations and business cases for internal approval.
• Ensure procurement data is maintained accurately in ERP and other purchasing systems.

Sodecia is a global automotive supplier delivering innovative engineering and manufacturing solutions to leading OEMs worldwide. As part of our Global Purchasing Organization, we are looking for a Buyer – BOM Commodity & Resident Buyer to join our European Purchasing team.

This is a dual-role position combining Commodity Management for a specific Bill of Materials (BOM) category across Sodecia's European Operations with the responsibilities of Resident Buyer for the Saarlouis Plant. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, supporting new business, and acting as the primary purchasing interface between the plant and the Global Purchasing organization.

About the Role

The Buyer will be responsible for managing an assigned BOM commodity across Europe while supporting the Saarlouis Plant’s operational and project purchasing requirements. This position requires close collaboration with Manufacturing, Engineering, Logistics, Program Management, Quality, Finance and Global Purchasing teams.

Key Responsibilities

Commodity Management (European Scope)

• Manage an assigned BOM commodity portfolio across Sodecia's European Operations.
• Develop and implement sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives and commodity roadmaps.
• Lead supplier selection, RFIs, RFQs, commercial negotiations and contract management.
• Support supplier nomination for new business awards and engineering changes.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities through value analysis, benchmarking, and productivity initiatives.
• Monitor supplier performance in terms of quality, cost, delivery, capacity, and sustainability.
• Support supplier development and risk mitigation activities together with cross-functional teams.
• Maintain market intelligence and monitor raw material trends affecting the assigned commodity.
• Act as the primary Purchasing representative at the Saarlouis Plant.
• Serve as the main interface between the plant management team and the Global Purchasing organization.
• Support production continuity by coordinating supplier-related issues, shortages, and escalation management.
• Participate in management meetings and ensure alignment between plant priorities and purchasing strategies.
• Support new product launches, transfers, and industrialization projects from a purchasing perspective.
• Coordinate local sourcing activities when required, in accordance with Global Purchasing policies.
• Ensure timely communication between suppliers, the plant and corporate purchasing functions.
• Prepare sourcing recommendations and business cases for internal approval.
• Ensure procurement data is maintained accurately in ERP and other purchasing systems.
• Support governance processes and ensure compliance with corporate procurement policies.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across purchasing and supply chain processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or a related field.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5 years of purchasing experience, preferably within the automotive industry.
• Experience in strategic sourcing of direct materials (BOM).
• Strong negotiation, supplier development, and commercial management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a Resident Buyer or Plant Buyer
• Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, IATF 16949 and project purchasing processes.
• Experience supporting new product introductions (NPI) and industrialization projects.
• Lean and Continuous Improvement mindset.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
