Job summary

Bertelsmann is seeking a Senior Business Development & Strategy professional to drive strategic analyses and financial modeling within its Corporate Centers in Cologne. You will collaborate across RTL Group affiliates to coordinate cross-country initiatives and monitor value creation plans while supporting M&A opportunities and market trend alignment.

Ideal candidates bring a Master’s in business or economics, 2–4 years in a related role, and a strong affinity for media, streaming, and digital

• Minimum 2-4 years of professional experience in Business Development & Strategy, in an international context.
• Experience or affinity for media, streaming, technology and digital business models.

• Develop business cases and financial models.
• Collaborate with RTL Group affiliates to lead or coordinate cross-country strategic projects and monitor initiatives.
• Monitor strategic initiatives and value creation plans.
• Support M&A opportunities in line with group strategy.
• Align with business development & strategy teams on innovation and market trends.
• Prepare Executive Committee and board materials.

Job Description

• Develop business cases and financial models.
• Collaborate with RTL Group affiliates to lead or coordinate cross-country strategic projects, monitor strategic initiative and ensure effective implementation.
• Monitor strategic initiatives and value creation plans.
• Support M&A opportunities in line with the group-wide strategy.
• Align with business development & strategy teams of RTL Group affiliates on innovation and market trends.
• Prepare Executive Committee and board of directors’ materials.
• Work alongside external advisors and consultants.

Qualifications

• University degree (Master or equivalent) in business administration or economics with an outstanding academic track record.
• Minimum 2-4 years of professional experience in Business Development & Strategy, in an international context in a top tier consultancy firm, investment bank, private equityor an international corporation in the TMTsector.
• Previous experience or a strong affinity for media, streaming, technology and digital business models.
• Dynamic person with entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to take ownership (eg. keen and able to create added value not only for Business Development & Strategy but also for the overall business).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with solid project management and execution-oriented skills (eg. well-organized in managing tasks, project documentation)
• Ability to structure complex strategic questions.
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships at different levels in an organization.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Powerpoint, Excel).
• Perfect command of spoken and written English (CEFR level C2). Other languages, such as German, are a plus.
