Build & Release Support Engineer – CI/CD

Zusammenfassung

Jobtailor is seeking a Build/Release Engineer in Germany to own CI/CD tooling, Maven/Java builds, and container deployments. You will triage issues, automate pipelines with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and GitLab CI, and collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure reliable software delivery.

The role requires 2–5 years of hands-on experience, strong scripting skills, and a solid understanding of the software supply chain.

Qualifikationen

• 2–5 years in Build/Release Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or software development.
• Strong proficiency with Maven and Java build tooling.
• Experience with CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
• Experience with artifact repositories such as Artifactory or Nexus.
• Familiarity with Spinnaker or similar deployment orchestration.
• Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.

Aufgaben

• Triage build failures, broken pipelines, dependency issues, and configuration errors.
• Diagnose complex build, packaging, or artifact problems independently.
• Investigate Maven builds, Java compilation, Docker images, Artifactory repositories, Jenkins jobs, and Spinnaker pipelines.
• Provide fast, accurate context before escalating.
• Document solutions and create problem–solution one-pagers.
• Coordinate incidents and communicate during root-cause analysis and resolution.
• Maintain internal documentation and FAQs.

• Manage Slack threads and tickets, approximately 50/50
• Triage build failures, broken pipelines, dependency issues, and configuration errors
• Provide fast, accurate context before escalating
• Diagnose complex build, packaging, or artifact problems independently
• Investigate Maven builds, Java compilation, Docker images, Artifactory repositories, Jenkins jobs, and Spinnaker pipelines
• Provide structured guidance throughout incidents
• Complete thorough analyses before escalating issues
• Gather required details and produce high-quality escalation tickets
• Maintain and refine FAQs and internal documentation
• Create problem–solution one-pagers for recurring issues
• Document newly solved problems thoroughly
• Coordinate multi-user incidents involving large build failures
• Communicate during investigation, root-cause analysis, and resolution
• Handle multiple developer inquiries and parallel issues
• Participate in weekly team meetings reviewing escalated tickets

Requirements

• 2–5 years in Build/Release Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or software development
• Git proficiency
• CI/CD tooling expertise, including Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI
• Build and Release engineering fundamentals
• Maven and Java build tooling
• Understanding of the software supply chain lifecycle
• Experience supporting artifact repositories such as Artifactory or Nexus
• Experience with Spinnaker or similar deployment orchestration
• Strong troubleshooting ability
• Clear written and spoken communication
• SDLC understanding
• Unix and Linux command-line proficiency
• Scripting with Python or Bash
• Container knowledge, including Docker or Kubernetes
• Strong Linux skills, scripting, Git, and containers
• Solid Linux/Unix experience
• Experience with build tools such as Maven or Gradle, containers, and artifact management systems
• No CI/CD experience or poor communication are disqualifiers
• Monitoring tools such as Prometheus/Grafana are nice-to-haves
• Prior SRE experience is a nice-to-have
