You will manage daily records across multiple entities, handle AP/AR, perform reconciliations, and support month-end closings. Emphasis on confidentiality, precision, and remote collaboration with U.S.-based teams.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of professional bookkeeping experience.

Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Bookkeeper (US GAAP) based remotely in Germany.

The Bookkeeper will support U.S.-based accounting firms and CPA practices by maintaining accurate, organized, and up-to-date financial records across multiple business entities. This role requires strong knowledge of U.S. bookkeeping practices and expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks Online. You will manage daily bookkeeping activities, oversee accounts payable and receivable, perform reconciliations, and assist with financial closing procedures. Working closely with accounting teams and client stakeholders, you will help resolve discrepancies and ensure reliable financial documentation. The position also encourages the use of AI tools and modern accounting technologies to improve productivity and streamline workflows. Accountabilities

• Daily Bookkeeping and Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for multiple business entities.

• Record and categorize financial transactions, prepare journal entries, and perform routine account maintenance.

• Ensure bookkeeping records are complete, organized, and consistent with applicable U.S. accounting practices.

• Accounts Payable and Receivable: Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and handled in a timely manner.

• Track outstanding payments and receivables and support the resolution of discrepancies.

• Reconciliations and Financial Closing: Perform monthly bank, credit card, and other account reconciliations with a high level of accuracy.

• Investigate inconsistencies, resolve discrepancies, and maintain supporting documentation.

• Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures to support accurate financial reporting.

• Prepare bookkeeping reports and contribute to the preparation of financial statements.

• Documentation and Client Collaboration: Maintain well-organized financial documentation in accordance with client requirements and established firm procedures.

• Collaborate with accounting teams and clients to obtain financial information, clarify transactions, and resolve bookkeeping issues.

• Handle confidential financial information responsibly and maintain consistent quality standards.

• Technology and Workflow Improvement: Use AI tools and modern accounting technologies to improve efficiency, accuracy, and workflow management.

• Identify opportunities to streamline recurring bookkeeping tasks and strengthen recordkeeping processes.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of professional bookkeeping experience.

• A minimum of 2 recent years working within an accounting firm or CPA practice.

• Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks Online.

• Strong understanding of U.S. bookkeeping practices, accounting conventions, and financial recordkeeping procedures.

• Demonstrated experience maintaining financial records, categorizing transactions, managing accounts payable and receivable, and performing account reconciliations.

• Familiarity with month-end and year-end closing processes and bookkeeping report preparation.

• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.

• Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion, integrity, and strict confidentiality.

• Excellent written English communication skills for professional interactions with accounting firms and clients.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies.

• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a remote environment.

• A stable employment history, with at least two years of tenure in each previous role.
