Job summary

Nextcloud is seeking engineers with PHP backend and AI integration experience to join the integrations team. You will work with the engineering team to add features such as new authentication or storage mechanisms, and to integrate AI into the Nextcloud platform (LLMs, speech-to-text, image processing).

The role emphasizes open source collaboration, reliability, and the ability to work independently across distributed teams.

Qualifications

• Proficient PHP with basic HTML/CSS/JS.
• Experience with Python for AI/ML integrations preferred.
• Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks and REST APIs.

Responsibilities

• Develop features for server back-end and authentication/storage improvements.
• Integrate AI services and models via APIs/microservices.
• Design databases and system architectures for scalable features.
• Lead quality assurance and project-based development within defined timelines.

Job description

We’re looking for engineers with experience in PHP/ back-end development and

We’re looking for engineers with experience in PHP/ back-end development and

AI integrations to join our integrations team!

You would work with the engineering team to bring new features and improvements

to the server back-end like new authentication or storage mechanisms, audio/video chat and more, as well as integrating AI into the Nextcloud platform (e.g. LLMs, speech-to-text, and image processing services).

You ideally have open source experience, know your way around git and Github.

Tasks

• Feature development
• Integration of AI services and models (Python / APIs / microservices)
• Database design
• Systems design
• Quality assurance
• Project-based development, working on one project for a defined timeframe

Requirements

• Technical experience with PHP and bit of HTML, CSS, Javascript
• Experience with Python for AI/ML integrations
• Experience with one or more frontend frameworks like VueJS or React, Angular, Svelte
• Familiarity with AI/LLM frameworks (e.g. Hugging Face, LangChain)
• Familiarity with REST APIs and REST-based AI services
• Understanding of containerization (Docker) and model deployment workflows
• Experience with speech, vision, or NLP integrations (e.g. Whisper, OCR, embeddings)
• Knowledge around open source technology
• Ideally experience with Nextcloud AI features or similar platforms
• Reliability, independent and self-reliant working style
