About imec Germany

The automotive industry is at a turning point with advanced chiplet technology paving the way for autonomous driving and connected vehicles. Imec and the State of Baden-Württemberg are establishing a joint project to support the local and international automotive industry in derisking and accelerating the introduction of automotive chiplets into manufacturing.

In our new Advanced Chip Design Accelerator (ACDA) competence center, based at the Innovation Park AI (IPAI) in Heilbronn, we will be pushing the boundaries of what's possible and accelerating the future of automotive. By leveraging imec's world-leading expertise in semiconductor technology and packaging, we will be building the chiplet-based solutions that will power the vehicles of tomorrow to be smarter, safer, and more efficient.

What you will do

As ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) Project Manager within DSRD, you will manage, direct, and execute major ASIC product development projects. You will be responsible for New Product Introduction, project management including planning, and ensuring all required deliverables are met, working closely with several service domains (Design, Manufacturing, Substrate design, Assembly, Test, etc.).

You will be the main contact person to the customer during the engineering lifecycle of the project.

You will be responsible for:

  • The definition, budget, quality, and overall planning of work packages across different project stages, in collaboration with the QA department.
  • The full project management across various service domains, relying on different types of engineers required during different project phases.
  • Overall coordination including:
    • Follow-up of design and tape-out activities with tape-out engineers.
    • Defining packages for ASIC assembly with assembly engineers.
    • Defining test solutions with test engineers.
    • Setting up electrical and radiation ASIC test solutions with external test houses, depending on the project.
  • Production release for volume manufacturing.
  • Proposing cost improvement plans such as yield improvement, multi-site testing, and packaging options in collaboration with the customer and assembly house.
  • Monitoring project budgets.
  • Working in accordance with applicable procedures.

Who you are
  • You hold a Master's degree in Electronics, with over 10 years of relevant experience in ASICs.
  • You are knowledgeable about standards like MIL STD, automotive, space, etc., ASIC qualification flows.
  • Experience with automotive or medical qualification flows is an asset.
  • You have experience working on project-based tasks.
  • You are proactive and customer-focused.
  • You are initiative-taking and highly motivated to work within a team of engineers.
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory.
  • You are willing to travel regularly (about 1 week/month) to our subcontractors.
