Goodgame Studios is developing a new cross-platform 4X strategy title, built upon one of the most successful and commercially proven German game franchises. This ambitious project aims to combine visual excellence, technical execution, and marketing performance at a new level.

We’re not looking for a traditional people manager. Instead, we seek an operational expert and visual authority – someone with a sharp creative vision, high standards, and the ability to shape the game’s visual identity from the ground up.

As Art Director, you’ll operate at the intersection of aesthetics, production feasibility, and commercial impact. You will work closely with Product, Game Design, Tech, Monetization, and especially Marketing to create a product that visually captivates, emotionally engages, and performs in the market.

You bring a mindset of pragmatism and speed, able to prioritize and deliver results without compromising quality.

YOUR MISSION

• Build and enforce a strong Art Style Guide – ensuring consistent, high-quality execution across characters, environments, UI/UX, and VFX
• Lead with creative authority – not headcount: You’re not managing people, you’re setting the bar for artistic excellence
• Integrate modern pipelines and tools (Unity, Adobe, Blender), including AI-supported workflows (e.g. Stable Diffusion, Midjourney)
• Collaborate closely with the Marketing team to create visual assets and trailers that convert in stores and campaigns
• Balance creativity with speed and pragmatism – focusing on delivering impactful visuals under real production constraints
• Translate artistic vision into market-ready outputs, including store assets, onboarding experiences, and long-term visual identity
• Ensure the game operates on visual par with top-tier genre competitors, while maintaining a strong and recognizable franchise character

YOUR BACKSTORY

• Proven track record as an Art Director or Senior Artist on successful mobile or cross-platform titles
• Outstanding portfolio focused on style leadership, 3D character design, UI composition, and consistent art direction
• You’re not interested in managing people – you’re a hands-on creator, known for speed, pragmatism, and a high-quality bar
• Experienced with Unity and common art tools (Adobe Suite, Blender, etc.)
• Experience with AI-supported asset production is required
• Strong understanding of how visual design drives engagement, retention, and monetization
• Able to lead cross-functional collaboration with clarity, creative confidence, and an eye for what matters
• Working with ComfyUI is an advantage
