You will interact with global customers, influence future product roadmaps, and travel up to 10% to support customers worldwide.

Job Description

onsemi is looking for an experienced leader to join the SiC Product Division as an Applications Engineer Director. This role is based in Munich, Germany.

As an Applications Engineer Director, you will lead a fast‑paced team that evaluates new Silicon Carbide (SiC) technologies, validates next‑generation SiC discretes for industrial and automotive markets, and supports release to production. Your job is to lead the team, interact with leading global customers and collaborate with teams across onsemi and have a direct influence on future product roadmaps. This is a highly visible role and includes up to 10 percent travel to support customers worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of experienced application engineers: build and develop the team, set processes and standards, foster a culture of technical excellence, and drive continuous improvement activities.
• Collaborate with customers on complex power semiconductor challenges and build long‑term technical relationships.
• Ensure customer applications and real‑world use cases are embedded into product architecture and requirements.
• Collaborate with Product Management on roadmap, specifications, and value proposition quantification.
• Oversee the creation of reference designs, validation environments, and application examples.
• Make key technical decisions, manage risks, and ensure performance, quality, cost, and timeline targets are achieved.

Qualifications

• BSEE + minimum 14 yrs of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 5 years leading engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of the full product development cycle (definition, design, validation, launch).
• Strong understanding of power converter topologies and solid knowledge of SiC device behavior and key tradeoffs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Great coaching, leadership, and mentoring skills to help the team develop.
