Job summary

ZEISS Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology is seeking an engineer to develop in-line metrology and inspection applications using FIB-SEM technology. You will operate FIB-SEM systems in customer clean rooms and contribute to the engineering team by advancing FIB-SEM techniques and sample preparation.

You will gain hands-on experience at customer sites, identify process improvements and new market opportunities, and lead live demonstrations with samples and wafers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering, Material Science, Physics or Chemistry.
• Experience with SEM imaging and understanding SEM imaging mechanisms.
• Experience with FIB milling and understanding of FIB milling mechanisms.
• Experience with FIB-SEM sample preparation (advantage).
• Demonstrated ability in development of new processes using FIB-SEM or SEM instruments.
• Experience in DOE and SPC.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on development of applications for in-line metrology & inspection using ZEISS FIB-SEM technology.
• Operate the FIB-SEM systems in customers’ clean rooms.
• Be part of the engineering team and help development of FIB–SEM technology.
• Obtain knowledge of semiconductor FIB-SEM applications at customer sites and identify improvement areas and new market opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal hardware and software development groups.
• Provide technical guidance to Business Development Managers and sales team.
• Lead and perform customer live demos with samples and wafers.
• Spend considerable time in clean rooms at ZEISS and customer sites.

Your role

• Hands-on development of applications for in-line metrology & inspection in semiconductor manufacturing by using ZEISS’ FIB-SEM technology.
• Operate the FIB-SEM systems in the customers’ clean room
• Be part of the engineering team and help development of FIB – SEM technology.
• Obtain first-hand knowledge of semiconductor FIB-SEM applications at customer site and identify areas for improvement as well as new market opportunities.
• Work jointly & hands‑on with internal hardware and software development groups.
• Provide technical guidance to Business Development Managers and sales team.
• Lead and perform customer (live) demos with customer samples and wafers.
• You will spend a considerable amount of your time in clean rooms at ZEISS and customer sites.

Your profile

• Bachelor or Master Degree in Engineering, Material Science, Physics or Chemistry
• Experience with SEM imaging and excellent understanding of the SEM imaging mechanisms
• Experience with FIB milling and excellent understanding of the FIB milling mechanisms
• Experience with FIB-SEM sample preparation (advantage)
• Demonstrated ability in development of new processes or methodologies using FIB-SEM or SEM instruments
• Experience in Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
• Knowledge of coding in Python or any other programming language used for data analytics or image processing (advantage)
• Excellent communication skills, self-direction, integrity, positive thinking, strong learning desires and good teamwork
• Up to 50% international travel to semiconductor fabs (USA and Asia)
