Job Description :

For our Airbus Defence and Space unit 'Radar Programmes' in the department „Projects and Products ", we are looking for an Application / System Developer (d / f / m) for Digital Elevation Models.

The position is limited for 18 months.

The team is located at the sites Friedrichshafen and Potsdam, develops new products and processes based on radar remote sensing with a focus on Digital Elevation Models (DEMs).

Tasks :

Development of products and process chains based on spatial data, mainly Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) and derived products

Development of user-defined solutions, e.g. integration of Digital Elevation Models from various sensors for a new product, development of a platform for respective user access in cooperation with other units

Supporting software development and maintenance (DEM Editing Software), also in direct contact with customers

Supporting the migration of a GIS to QGIS software

Participation in international projects such as the ESA-Copernicus DEM Program and respective internal activities (demonstration of potential next generation data sets)

Exchange and interaction within an international environment

Active support of the product management, c ooperation in the conduction of new product campaigns

Support of publications and visualisations of spatial data

Desired skills and qualifications

University degree or education with a focus on Geosciences or Geoinformatics or similar

Multiple years of working experience in development / production of Remote Sensing Geoinformation services

Working experience in an international environment would be an advantage

Experience with Earth Observation data (opitcal / radar) would be an advantage

Experience in GIS software : ERDAS, QGIS, ArcGIS (especially ArcGIS Pro)

Experience in visualizationsoftware (eg Blender)

Programming knowledge in R and Python for processing of spatial data as well as understanding of relational data bases / SQL

Experiences with the design, development, and implementation of AI models and algorithms, as well as their continuous evaluation and optimization would be an advantage

Enhanced MS-Office skills

Analytical and independent working ability

A good team player with excellent communication skills and ability to work within dynamic multi-national teams

Flexibility and willingness to travel abroad

Motivation and initiative to originate new ideas for further developments

Fluent in English and German (Writing, Speaking)
