Job summary
mobile.de, based in Berlin-Charlottenburg with flexible in-office and home-working options, seeks an Accountant (d/f/m) to shape Financial Excellence and ensure German GAAP compliance in a global tech environment. You will report to the Head of Accounting/Controlling and work within a 13-person team.
Candidates should have German fluency, 4+ years in accounting, and experience with ERP systems. The role includes travel in Germany (10–20%) and potentially offices in Berlin or Munich.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of HGB / German GAAP is essential, complemented by IFRS knowledge.
- Minimum of 4+ years professional accounting experience in fast-paced data-driven environments.
- College degree in Accounting and Controlling or completed vocational training.
- Nice-to-have: Advanced vocational qualification (IHK).
- Operational finance capability with strong close & compliance experience.
- Ability to simplify and communicate complex problems clearly for the business.
- Collaborate and influence stakeholders across organization levels.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Experience with SAP, OneStream, Navision and Salesforce; adaptability to new tools.
- Business fluent in German; good English skills.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of month-, quarter- and year end closes in line with IFRS and local German GAAP requirements.
- Preparation of financial statements according to local German GAAP (HGB).
- Preparation of Balance Sheet reconciliations.
- Reconciliation of VAT return and support for Tax returns.
- Support external audits and communications with German authorities and auditors.
- Act as a trusted finance expert and partner for local mobile.de teams on accounting and billing matters; collaborate with central finance teams in Amsterdam/Barcelona.
- Drive continuous improvement and digitalization of local accounting processes and implement new systems and controls.

Join one of Germany's leading digital marketplaces! As an Accountant (d/f/m), you will be key in shaping Financial Excellence at mobile.de, balancing statutory German requirements with the agility of a global tech company.
You’ll be at the heart of our dynamic Financial Accounting & Controlling team (13 people including this role) in Berlin-Charlottenburg and report to the local Head of Accounting/Controlling.
Important: The position is based in Berlin or Munich, offering flexibility to work both in-office and from home. The role includes regular travel within Germany, approx. 10–20% of your working time.
- You are the specialist: Knowledge of HGB / German GAAP is essential, complemented by good IFRS knowledge
- You have minimum of 4+ years professional experience in roles with a strong focus on Accounting, ideally gained within a fast-paced, data-driven environment (e.g. e-commerce or digital tech, or top consulting firms), where you mastered the balance of agility and HGB compliance
- A college degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Accounting and Controlling, or a successfully completed relevant vocational training program (e.g., tax clerk, industrial clerk)
- Nice-to-have: Advanced vocational qualification (e.g., Certified Accountant IHK)
- Proven operational finance capability; strong close & compliance experience
- Ability to simplify and communicate complex problems in a clear concise way for the business
- You will need to collaborate and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience with modern ERP systems (e.g., SAP, OneStream, Navision) and finance tech stacks (e.g., Salesforce). Proven ability to quickly adapt to new software and tools is a plus.
- Business fluent in German (must-have), good English skills in writing and speaking
Your work will be central to our operational excellence and digital transformation:
- Preparation of month-, quarter- and year end closes in line with IFRS and local German GAAP requirements
- Preparation of financial statement according to local German GAAP (HGB)
- Preparation of Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Reconciliation of VAT return and supporting the preparation of Tax returns
- Support external financial and tax audits and communications with German authorities and auditors
- Act as a trusted finance expert and partner for our local mobile.de teams (Business, FP&A, Legal, HR) on accounting and billing matters, and collaborate closely with different central finance teams in Amsterdam/Barcelona.
- Drive the continuous improvement and digitalization of our local accounting processes, supporting the implementation of new systems and controls in a rapidly evolving tech environment.
