Lean Solutions Group in Bogotá, Colombia is seeking a detail-oriented GAAP & Statutory Accountant to support both U.S. GAAP and NAIC statutory accounting operations.

You will work with Accounting Managers to support monthly, quarterly, and annual closes, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate has strong US GAAP knowledge and accounting experience, with the ability to develop NAIC SSAP knowledge quickly.

Formación

• Requires 2+ years of accounting experience.

Responsabilidades

• Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare and record journal entries per US GAAP and policies.
• Prepare reconciliations and workpapers for cash, AR, AP, prepaid expenses, and accruals.
• Perform variance analysis and investigate material fluctuations.
• Assist in preparing financial statements and footnotes.
• Prepare NAIC SAP/SSAP journal entries and reconciliations.
• Support NAIC quarterly and annual statements.

We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically strong GAAP & Statutory Accountant to support both U.S. GAAP and NAIC statutory accounting operations.

This role will work closely with Accounting Managers and Controllers to support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, financial reporting, and statutory accounting requirements.

The ideal candidate has strong U.S. GAAP knowledge, accounting experience, and either working knowledge of NAIC Statutory Accounting Principles (SSAP) or the ability and willingness to develop this knowledge quickly.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes.
• Prepare and record journal entries in accordance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies.
• Prepare account reconciliations and supporting workpapers for:
• Cash accounts
• Accounts Receivable
• Accounts Payable
• Prepaid expenses
• Expense accruals
• Perform variance analysis and investigate significant fluctuations.
• Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and related footnotes.
• Prepare statutory journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting workpapers in accordance with NAIC SAP / SSAP.
• Support the preparation of NAIC Quarterly and Annual Statements.
• Identify, document, and reconcile differences between GAAP and statutory accounting.
• Maintain accurate and well-organized accounting workpapers and documentation.
• Support improvements to accounting processes and internal controls.
• Partner with Finance and Accounting teams to analyze historical results and improve financial information quality.
• Participate in automation, system implementation, and accounting process improvement projects.
• Leverage technology and AI tools when appropriate to improve accounting efficiency and accuracy.
• Support internal teams with accounting-related operational needs.
• Assist with ad hoc accounting projects and requests as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum 2+ years of relevant accounting experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong foundational knowledge of U.S. GAAP is required.
• Working knowledge of NAIC Statutory Accounting Principles (SSAP) is preferred.
• Strong willingness and ability to quickly develop knowledge of statutory accounting if direct experience is limited.
• Experience with financial close processes, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage deadlines and deliver accurate work on time.
