Job description

SP6 is looking for a Senior Staff Accountant to keep day-to-day accounting accurate and on time across our three entities: SP6, ASCERA and 112Cyber. You'll own accounts payable (AP) and Ramp expense processing, run customer billing and collections, process closed deals, support professional and managed services revenue recognition, and prepare month-end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. You'll report to the Assistant Controller and work closely with our US-based accounting team.

This is an offshore role placed through our staffing partner. You will work on site at the agency's office five (5) days a week. It suits an experienced, detail-driven accountant who works independently, keeps a close calendar, and is comfortable overlapping with US Eastern business hours.

Responsibilities:

(Approximate share of ongoing time shown for each area.)

Process accounts payable and expenses (~35%)
  • Enter vendor bills daily in Business Central, set up the weekly AP run, and make vendor payments.
  • Enter monthly payroll and benefits bills, partner pay, and rent payments for SP6 and ASCERA.
  • Review and code Ramp, check and banking activity daily, and book monthly Ramp accrual journal entries and vendor bills.
  • Review AP statements weekly.
  • Verify at month end that all open purchase orders should still be open.
Run billing, collections and closed deals (~30%)
  • Process closed deals (software, Professional Services (PS) / Managed Services (MS) / margin-only, Cyber Risk & Compliance (CRC), ASCERA and 112Cyber) and set up sales orders, projects and hours.
  • Onboard new customers and keep the new-customer and multi-year spreadsheets current.
  • Prepare and send invoices and upload invoices to Ariba/Coupa and customer bill portals.
  • Record customer payments daily and follow up on accounts receivable (AR) weekly.
  • Review and close completed and open sales orders at month end.
Support revenue recognition and project billing (~15%)
  • Review weekly Business Central timesheets and prepare for the weekly timesheet meetings with the CRC and PS teams.
  • Prepare professional services billing and revenue recognition, and managed services journal entries.
  • Prepare the monthly CRC utilization report and final billable report.
Close the books (~15%)
  • Prepare month-end journal entries: intercompany, intercompany payroll, prepaid, fixed asset depreciation, loaned labor and sales commission reclasses.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts for SP6, ASCERA and 112Cyber.
  • Maintain prepaid and fixed asset schedules, and allocate shared software costs across entities.
  • Review the general ledger and wrap up the month-end checklist on schedule.
Support payroll, commissions and tax (~5%)
  • Review and approve hourly and internal employee timesheets.
  • Prepare month-end commission documents and the AR sheet for bonuses.
  • Reconcile COBRA accounts and calculate engineer holiday bonuses.
  • Make quarterly state tax payments.
Requirements:
What you bring
  • 4+ years of full-cycle accounting experience (AP, AR, billing, journal entries and reconciliations), ideally supporting a US company.
  • Degree in accounting or finance.
  • Solid grasp of US GAAP, including accruals, prepaids and revenue recognition for software and services.
  • Hands-on Microsoft Business Central experience (or a similar ERP) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with multi-entity accounting and intercompany entries.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Availability during US Eastern business hours, and a reliable home work setup if working remotely.
  • Strong attention to detail and ownership of deadlines.
Nice to have:
  • Experience with Ramp, Avalara, Ariba or customer billing portals.
  • Professional services or managed services billing at an IT or services company.
  • Government contract (GSA) billing experience.
  • Microsoft Business Central experience or a similar ERP.
Success in the first year looks like:
  • Month-end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for all three entities delivered on the close calendar.
  • The weekly AP run and vendor payments processed on time, with no late payments.
  • Closed deals processed and invoices sent promptly, with AR aging kept current.
  • Accurate timesheet and billing support for Professional and Managed Services revenue each month.
  • Documented procedures for recurring tasks so the work is repeatable.
