Minka builds real-time payment infrastructure. The Senior Software Engineer works on the core ledger or integration layers, using TypeScript on Node.js with PostgreSQL and Kubernetes.

You take work from the team backlog, design, build with tests, review, deploy, and maintain live systems, ensuring traceability and correctness under load.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years building backend services in production.
• Expert in TypeScript and Node.js.
• Strong PostgreSQL relational database skills.
• Implemented systems where duplicate actions must not occur.
• Wrote tests as an integral part of development.
• Supported own services in production and managed incidents.
• Able to clearly explain designs in writing and review (English/Spanish).

Responsabilités

• Take work from the backlog, design with the team, implement with tests, review, and deploy to production.
• Monitor live services, fix issues, and document root causes.
• Ensure money is never created or lost and operations are idempotent.
• Contribute to cross-team design decisions and mentor others.

What

Minka builds real-time payment infrastructure. At the centre is a cloud-hosted ledger. Around it are the integrations that connect banks, wallets and payment schemes to that ledger. The Senior Software Engineer works on one or the other, depending on the team you join. In a core team you work on the ledger itself: how money moves, how balances are kept correct, how the system performs under load. In an integrations team you work on connecting a bank or a payment scheme to the ledger: their protocols and message formats, their rules, their failure cases. The work in both is in TypeScript on Node.js, with PostgreSQL, running on Kubernetes.

The first job is to ship. You take work from the team backlog, design it with the team, build it with tests, get it reviewed and into production, and look after it once it is live. When something breaks, you find the cause, fix it, and write down what happened.

As you settle in, you take on more responsibility for the parts of the system your team runs. You learn what must always be true about them: money is never created or lost, an operation happens exactly once, every action can be traced. You learn how they behave under load and when things around them fail, and what they cost to run. You make that better over time and you help decide what the team builds next.

Later you take part in design decisions that reach across teams and help other engineers grow through review.

Must have:

• Five or more years building backend services in production
• Strong TypeScript and Node.js
• Solid relational database skills, ideally PostgreSQL
• Has built systems where doing something twice by mistake is a serious bug
• Writes tests as part of the work, not after it
• Has supported their own services in production
• Explains and defends a design clearly, in writing and in review
• Fluent level of both Spanish and English language
