EPAM Systems in Colombia is seeking a Lead Python Developer to shape backend APIs and orchestrate systems for AI-driven solutions. You will collaborate with a multinational engineering team to build scalable, secure cloud-native APIs and RAG workflows, guiding engineers and codifying standards.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in backend engineering, leadership experience, and strong Python and AWS/Docker expertise, with hands-on Generative AI work and LangChain familiarity.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend engineering with microservices and distributed systems.
• 1+ year guiding and managing engineering teams.
• Strong track record in Python for high-performance backend infrastructure and cloud-native APIs.
• Hands-on experience with Generative AI and LangChain/LangGraph.

Responsibilities

• Shape backend API architecture and orchestration systems for connectivity with large language models.
• Build and sustain Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) processes and embeddings.
• Develop agent-based tools using LangChain/LangGraph and MCP where suitable.
• Maintain security, data privacy, observability, and testing across backend functions.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and define technical standards for the team.
• Coordinate with frontend, data engineering, and infra teams for cohesive outcomes.
