Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join our team in delivering robust backend services. You will build and evolve RESTful microservices, work with MySQL data models, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ship high-quality software.

You will independently drive technical decisions, participate in design reviews, and contribute to automated tests and observability. Strong English communication is required, with opportunity to grow within a global, inclusive engineering

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of Java OO development experience.
• REST API design and development expertise.
• Experience with microservices and distributed systems.
• Strong MySQL, SQL, data modeling and optimization skills.
• Understanding of design patterns and clean code.
• Experience with testing, CI/CD, and secure API development.
• Proficiency in Git and modern development workflows.
• Excellent English communication skills (B2+).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java.
• Develop and enhance REST APIs supporting mobile apps and integrations.
• Work with MySQL: data modeling, queries, optimization, troubleshooting.
• Contribute to scalable, maintainable backend and microservices architecture.
• Write clean, secure, well-tested code following best practices.
• Investigate defects, performance issues, and production problems.
• Participate in code reviews, estimation, and solution design.
• Collaborate with mobile, product, QA, and backend teams to deliver features.
• Contribute to automated testing, observability, logging, reliability.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to boost productivity and quality.
