SOFTGIC is seeking a Principal Infrastructure Engineer in Bogotá to ensure availability, performance, security, and reliability of hosting and SaaS infrastructure across Linux, Windows, cloud, virtualization, and container environments.

The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, mentoring junior staff and driving modernization initiatives. Ideal candidates have 7–10 years of relevant experience, strong scripting, and a deep understanding of DevOps practices.

Formación

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or related field.
7–10 years of relevant infrastructure engineering experience.
Advanced Linux and Windows Server, networking, and database expertise.
Experience with Puppet, Chef, and Ansible.
Experience with Docker CE/Data Center or equivalent container platforms.
Design-level expertise with SaaS operating platforms.
Experience with VMware virtualization and cloud infrastructure.
Strong scripting and infrastructure automation capabilities.
Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
Willingness for after-hours/on-call support.
SOC 2 or equivalent compliance frameworks preferred.
RHCSA/RHCE, MCSA/MCSE, CCNA/CCNA Security desirable.

Responsabilidades

Maintain highly available hosting infrastructure across Linux, Windows, cloud, networking, database, virtualization, and container environments.
Assist Engineering teams with development/testing environments and troubleshoot full-stack issues.
Perform system administration including server installation, deployments, patching, log analysis, and customer account provisioning.
Develop and improve automation and configuration management processes to increase efficiency.
Create and maintain technical documentation covering servers, network topology, equipment, configurations, and procedures.
Develop, test, maintain, and execute disaster recovery plans and enforce infrastructure compliance.
Collaborate with hosting providers, MSPs, and third-party teams to implement solutions.
Perform capacity planning and define technical specs for new equipment.
Lead infrastructure projects with milestones, schedules, and deliverables.
Participate in after-hours maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting, and on-call support.
Provide mentorship to junior engineers and drive modernization.
