SOFTGIC is seeking a Principal Infrastructure Engineer in Bogotá to ensure availability, performance, security, and reliability of hosting and SaaS infrastructure across Linux, Windows, cloud, virtualization, and container environments.

The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, mentoring junior staff and driving modernization initiatives. Ideal candidates have 7–10 years of relevant experience, strong scripting, and a deep understanding of DevOps practices.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or related field.
• 7–10 years of relevant infrastructure engineering experience.
• Advanced Linux and Windows Server, networking, and database expertise.
• Experience with Puppet, Chef, and Ansible.
• Experience with Docker CE/Data Center or equivalent container platforms.
• Design-level expertise with SaaS operating platforms.
• Experience with VMware virtualization and cloud infrastructure.
• Strong scripting and infrastructure automation capabilities.
• Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Willingness for after-hours/on-call support.
• SOC 2 or equivalent compliance frameworks preferred.
• RHCSA/RHCE, MCSA/MCSE, CCNA/CCNA Security desirable.

Responsabilidades

• Maintain highly available hosting infrastructure across Linux, Windows, cloud, networking, database, virtualization, and container environments.
• Assist Engineering teams with development/testing environments and troubleshoot full-stack issues.
• Perform system administration including server installation, deployments, patching, log analysis, and customer account provisioning.
• Develop and improve automation and configuration management processes to increase efficiency.
• Create and maintain technical documentation covering servers, network topology, equipment, configurations, and procedures.
• Develop, test, maintain, and execute disaster recovery plans and enforce infrastructure compliance.
• Collaborate with hosting providers, MSPs, and third-party teams to implement solutions.
• Perform capacity planning and define technical specs for new equipment.
• Lead infrastructure projects with milestones, schedules, and deliverables.
• Participate in after-hours maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting, and on-call support.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers and drive modernization.

We are looking for a Principal Infrastructure Engineer to ensure the availability, performance, security, and reliability of critical hosting and SaaS infrastructure across Linux, Windows, cloud, virtualization, networking, and containerized environments .

This is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for infrastructure operations, automation, troubleshooting, compliance, disaster recovery, capacity planning, and the implementation of new hosted services. The position will also lead key infrastructure initiatives and mentor junior team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or a related field .
• 7–10 years of relevant infrastructure engineering experience .
• Advanced expertise with Linux and Windows Servers, databases, and networking technologies .
• Strong experience with automation and configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, and Ansible .
• Experience with Docker CE, Docker Data Center , or equivalent container platforms.
• Design-level expertise with SaaS operating platforms .
• Experience with VMware virtualization and cloud infrastructure in managed service environments.
• Strong scripting and infrastructure automation capabilities.
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, research, communication, and customer service skills.
• Flexibility to support alternative schedules and after-hours/on-call activities when necessary.
• Experience with SOC 2 or equivalent compliance frameworks is strongly preferred.
• Industry certifications such as RHCSA/RHCE, MCSA/MCSE, CCNA, or CCNA Security are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform system administration activities including server installation, application/system deployments, patching, log analysis, and customer account provisioning .
• Develop and improve automation and configuration management processes to increase infrastructure efficiency and reliability.
• Create and maintain technical documentation covering servers, network topology, equipment, configurations, and infrastructure procedures .
• Develop, test, maintain, and execute disaster recovery plans and enforce infrastructure compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with hosting providers, managed service providers, and third-party technical teams to implement infrastructure solutions.
• Perform capacity planning and define technical specifications for new server and networking equipment.
• Lead infrastructure projects, ensuring milestones, schedules, and key deliverables are successfully achieved.
• Participate in after-hours maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting, and on-call support when required.
