Job summary

Backblaze is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Data Infrastructure to advance the reliability and scalability of our B2 Object Storage data layer. You will design automation, extend observability, and drive large-scale features across multiple services.

You’ll work with Java, Go, and other systems languages, applying strong Linux fundamentals and modern tooling to reduce toil, improve performance, and support a growing global platform.

Qualifications

• 7+ years backend development in an enterprise environment with OO or systems languages.
• Experience designing automation frameworks or platforms used by other engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design and build automation frameworks for provisioning fleet infrastructure.
• Extend observability: metrics, logs, traces, alerts to monitor health.
• Build dashboards and visualizations for fleet health and trends.
• Lead design discussions and produce clear documentation for multi-service changes.
• Drive large feature implementation from design to rollout and backfill.
• Partner with on-call rotation to automate toil and incidents.
