Nu Colombia, a leading Latin American digital bank, is hiring a Senior Software Engineer in Bogotá to design and evolve large-scale distributed systems. You will lead technical direction within your team and mentor engineers, helping to shape scalable, secure backend services.

You will build horizontal, distributed microservices using Clojure, run on AWS/Kubernetes, and work with Kafka, Datomic/DynamoDB, and Prometheus for observability, collaborating with product and design leaders to deliver

Formación

• 6+ years of experience developing digital products in complex environments.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, microservices architecture, and cloud technologies.
• Proven track record of designing and delivering large-scale systems that serve thousands or millions of users.
• Strong background in object-oriented or functional programming languages, with the ability to work across multiple languages.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives end-to-end within a team and in collaboration with partner teams.
• Experience mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar in their teams.
• Practical knowledge of agile software development methodologies and CI/CD.
• Strong communication skills to identify and prevent risks, and explain trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Advanced English skills

• Lead technical direction for your team and partner with adjacent teams.
• Drive pragmatic innovation while ensuring resilient, secure, and scalable solutions.
• Mentor engineers and maintain a high technical bar.
• Write, test, instrument, document, and maintain high-quality code.
• Participate in code reviews to support growth of others.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering leaders to build end-to-end experiences.
• Ensure observability and robust error handling across services.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to incidents.
• Focus on backend while contributing to mobile/frontend as needed.
