Nu seeks a Lead Software Engineer in Bogotá to shape the technical direction of multiple teams. You will drive the design of large-scale distributed systems, mentor engineers, and contribute to backend systems using Clojure with Finagle.

We value eagerness to learn and strong collaboration with product and design teams. The role emphasizes scalable microservices, AWS deployments, Datomic/DynamoDB data stores, and Kubernetes orchestration.

Formación

• At least 8 years of experience building digital products in complex environments.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, microservices, and cloud technologies.
• Proven track record delivering large-scale systems serving thousands or millions of users.
• Strong background in OO or FP languages and cross-language work.
• Experience leading technical initiatives across teams, without direct authority.
• Mentoring senior engineers and raising the technical bar across orgs.
• Practical knowledge of agile methodologies and CI/CD practices.
• Excellent communication to articulates risks and trade-offs clearly.
• Advanced English skills.

Responsabilidades

• Shape the technical direction for multiple teams and align with architecture strategies.
• Drive design and evolution of large-scale distributed systems across products and geographies.
• Mentor engineers and maintain high technical standards across the organization.
• Write, test, instrument, and maintain high-quality code; participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering leaders to create end-to-end experiences.
• Ensure observability and robust error handling across team services.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to incidents as needed.
• Contribute primarily to backend while supporting mobile/frontend as needed.
