Job summary

Redux is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a distributed engineering team while actively contributing to architecture, coding, and code reviews. You will guide scalable, secure, cloud-based production systems and collaborate with product leadership, engineers, customers, and partners.

Expect to design web apps and RESTful services using Node.js, React, and PostgreSQL, own architecture decisions, and drive complex initiatives from discovery through production.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of professional software engineering with meaningful technical leadership and direct people management.
• Hands-on experience writing and reviewing production code in Node.js, React, and PostgreSQL.
• Experience managing a distributed engineering team including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
• Strong architectural judgment with ability to explain trade-offs and constraints.
• Proven track record delivering large or complex features from ambiguous requirements through production release.
• Structured troubleshooting approach with evidence, hypotheses, testing and root-cause analysis.
• Practical experience using AI coding tools within a disciplined production engineering process.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), infrastructure as code, CI/CD, monitoring, incident response, backup and recovery.
• Advanced proficiency with REST APIs, SQL, relational data modelling, security, and production operations.
• Clear, concise, structured English communication with engineers, executives, customers, and external partners.
• Ability to make recommendations, disagree constructively, and drive aligned decisions.
• Collaborative, accountable leadership style focused on building production-ready software.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and hold accountable a distributed team of engineers and contractors.
• Remain hands-on with production code and pull request reviews, dedicating meaningful time to the codebase.
• Design, build, and maintain high-quality web applications and RESTful services using Node.js, React, PostgreSQL.
• Own and guide architecture decisions for scalable, secure, cloud-based systems.
• Provide clear technical recommendations and explain trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Translate business needs into sequenced, releasable technical plans.
• Drive complex initiatives from discovery through production, managing dependencies and risks.
• Partner with Product to align technical solutions with business outcomes.
• Establish an AI-first workflow with requirements, testing, security controls, and quality guardrails.
• Own engineering quality across CI/CD, observability, incidents, and recovery.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance management, and difficult personnel decisions.
• Work with customers, suppliers, contractors, and vendors as needed.
