Job summary

Connext is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to lead network infrastructure operations across multiple client environments within our MSP. The role requires deep expertise in server and cloud infrastructure, network design, and complex connectivity/security issue troubleshooting.

You will serve as the Level 3 escalation point, oversee physical security system deployments, and mentor junior engineers while proactively leading client projects and improving workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of senior-level network engineering experience in an MSP or multi-tenant environment handling concurrent client networks.

Responsibilities

• Lead network infrastructure operations across multiple client environments within an MSP.
• Design, configure, and troubleshoot ISP, Firewall, Switching, and Wi-Fi solutions across a multi-client MSP environment.
• Manage and deploy IP-based physical security systems, including Access Control and Surveillance.
• Oversee VoIP configuration and call flow designs.
• Manage DNS records, registrar migrations, and certificate renewals.
• Configure and monitor UPS and PDU battery backup systems for business continuity.
• Serve as the technical SME and mentor junior engineers.
• Coordinate with the Network Team Manager to oversee daily operations and ensure SLA adherence.
• Act as escalation point for Level 1/2 engineers on connectivity, VPN, and outages.
• Analyze operations to identify bottlenecks and propose improvements.
• Assist in scoping and supervising network deployment projects to ensure timely delivery.

Job description

The Senior Network Engineer will lead network infrastructure operations and deployment projects across multiple client environments within a Managed Service Provider (MSP). This role requires strong expertise in both server and cloud infrastructure, network design and configuration, and the troubleshooting of complex connectivity and security issues. The successful candidate will serve as the Level 3 technical escalation point, oversee network and physical security system deployments, improve operational workflows, and proactively lead client projects while mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities Network Engineering & Technical Operations :

• Core Infrastructure Management: Design, configure, and troubleshoot ISP, Firewall, Switching, and Wi-Fi solutions across a multi-client MSP environment.
• Physical Security & Surveillance: Manage and deploy IP-based physical security systems, including Access Control and Surveillance systems. Lead effort on onboarding these technologies from current teams.
• Voice & Communication: Oversee the configuration and call flow designs for VoIP systems.
• DNS & Domain Security: Manage DNS records, registrar migrations, and certificate renewals. Create a consolidation strategy and execute it.
• Power Management: configure and monitor UPS and PDU battery backup systems to ensure business continuity.
• Serve as the technical subject matter expert (SME) and provide guidance and support to other team members.

Operational Leadership & Process Improvement

• Team Coordination: Work alongside the Network Team Manager to oversee the daily operations, ensuring incidents and requests are assigned, prioritized, and resolved within SLA.
• Escalation Point: Act as the technical backstop for Level 1/Level 2 Service Desk engineers regarding network connectivity, VPN issues, and infrastructure outages.
• Workflow Optimization: Analyze current network operations to identify bottlenecks. Provide suggestions on improvements to be implemented.
• Project Oversight: Assist in scoping and supervising network deployment projects (e.g., office move-ins, hardware refreshes) to ensure they are delivered on time and to standard.
• Independently manage and execute client projects from planning through completion, with minimal supervision.
• Make key technical decisions and take ownership of project deliverables.
• Coordinate with the design team to develop project outlines and determine the appropriate equipment and technical requirements.
• Oversee network infrastructure projects, including warehouse network deployments and equipment planning.
• Support the team's overall project execution and technical operations without requiring constant direction or hand-holding.

The ideal candidate is a self-sufficient, senior-level network engineering professional with mandatory MSP and surveillance experience. They should be capable of independently leading client projects, making technical decisions, and serving as the team's technical authority while supporting Eric in managing the department's operations and project workload.].
