Job summary

ScotiaTech in Bogota, Colombia is seeking a QA/Mobile Tester to design and execute manual test cases for Android and iOS apps, ensuring functional quality, compatibility across devices, and secure data handling. You will document results with Jira/Xray and collaborate with Developers, PO, and UX teams in an Agile setting.

The role requires 1–2 years in QA/manual testing, with secondary education and tech studies; Certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

• Completing secondary education is mandatory.
• Technical college or university studies in a technology-related field; studies may be incomplete.
• Technical certifications in testing are desirable.
• 1–2 years of experience in QA or manual testing roles.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute manual test cases for Android and iOS mobile applications, including functional, regression, and smoke testing.
• Validate compatibility across different devices, screen resolutions, operating systems, and OS versions.
• Report defects with clear traceability, including steps to reproduce, supporting evidence, environment details, and device information.
• Prepare test data and configure mobile testing environments, including emulators, simulators, and physical devices.
• Participate in refinement sessions and daily stand-ups to understand acceptance criteria and provide a quality perspective.
• Document test results and evidence using test management tools such as Jira and Xray.
• Maintain test cases and supporting evidence according to established templates and workflows.
• Perform basic performance and resource consumption testing, including CPU, memory, battery, and network usage on mobile devices.
• Validate basic security aspects, including permissions, secure storage, and headers, under the guidance of the relevant team.
• Collaborate with Developers, Product Owners, and UX teams to clarify requirements and ensure a positive user experience.

• Knowledge of testing concepts and different types of testing, including:


• Functional testing


• Regression testing


• Exploratory testing


• Experience performing manual testing for Android and iOS applications.


• Familiarity with mobile testing environments, including:


• Emulators


• Simulators


• Knowledge of test case and defect management using tools such as Jira and Xray.


• Ability to validate application compatibility across different devices, resolutions, and operating system versions.


• Basic knowledge of mobile security, including permissions, secure storage, and HTTPS communications.


• Understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.


• Knowledge of performance and resource consumption testing is desirable.


• Familiarity with usability and accessibility testing is desirable.


• Basic knowledge of network testing tools is desirable.


• 1–2 years of experience in QA or manual testing roles.


• Experience in mobile projects involving Android and iOS, performing functional testing and defect reporting.


• Experience working in Agile projects and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Working Conditions

Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
