The Manager, Software Engineering is responsible for leading a team of engineers while driving delivery, quality, and operational excellence across cross-functional initiatives. This role combines people and technical leadership as well as execution accountability. Managers build high-performing teams, develop engineering talent, identify and manage risks, collaborate across functions, and ensure the reliable delivery of business outcomes. Managers balance team health, delivery execution, quality, and continuous improvement while fostering an inclusive, respectful work environment.

What You’ll Do:
  • Build and maintain a high-performing engineering team through coaching, feedback, performance management, and development. Lead or contribute to cross-functional delivery teams, ensuring work is effectively planned, executed, and communicated.
  • Drive accountability for quality, operational excellence, incident follow-up, and continuous improvement.

  • Proactively identify and manage delivery risks, dependencies, resource constraints, and operational challenges.

Technical Leadership Competencies:
  • Demonstrate sufficient technical depth to understand the systems, services, and dependencies owned by the team.
  • Participate effectively in technical discussions, design reviews, architecture conversations, and pull request reviews.
  • Understand and communicate trade-offs involving performance, scalability, maintainability, reliability, complexity, and cost.
  • Understand system architecture, data flows, APIs, dependencies, and operational considerations within the team's domain.
  • Identify technical risks, bottlenecks, and architectural concerns and elevate/address appropriately.
  • Understand software delivery, production operations, monitoring, observability, incident management, and reliability fundamentals.
  • Promote secure, resilient, and maintainable engineering practices.
  • Partner with engineers and technical leaders to drive sound technical decision-making and long‑term system health.
What You’ll Bring:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering, software delivery, or related technical roles, including experience leading engineers, technical initiatives, or cross-functional delivery efforts.
  • Experience managing software development lifecycles, stakeholder relationships, delivery planning, and operational excellence initiatives preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading software engineering teams in an agile or iterative delivery environment.
  • Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, performance management, employee development, and team building.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Understanding of software architecture, APIs, distributed systems, operational practices, and software delivery lifecycles.
  • Experience using metrics and data to improve delivery effectiveness, quality, and operational performance.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify systemic issues and implement sustainable solutions rather than isolated fixes.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and psychologically safe work environment.
  • Able to travel occasionally both domestically and internationally
