About Sensei

Sensei is truly revolutionising the retail business and technology sectors with innovative solutions. Our in-house systems enable us to digitise physical stores and power them with the most advanced AI, computer vision, and real-time data processing technology — all within a reliable, cost-effective, and privacy-driven platform. This delivers the most seamless, checkout-free shopping experience in the world.

Our technology already operates in multiple countries with leading retailers and distinguishes itself by offering a unique, frictionless retail experience that welcomes all shoppers and payment methods, with real-time basket management and analytics.

About Your Team

Sensei’s Operations team is at the forefront of implementing and maintaining our innovative systems in the field. This agile team works closely with Product and Engineering to optimise infrastructure solutions, develop deployment and maintenance plans, and manage third-party contractors. We are dedicated to ensuring quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in all our implementations and ongoing operations, driving the successful international expansion of Sensei’s cutting-edge retail technologies.

How Can You Help?

This is not a typical maintenance role, and that’s intentional.

Most people who love tinkering with hardware and electronics aren’t drawn to building maintenance processes and managing partner networks. And most people who are great at operations and field management don’t get excited about debugging a PCB or iterating on a sensor enclosure. We need both, and we know that makes this a rare hire.

You’ll be the person who keeps our deployed systems running, and also the person who makes them better. You’ll build scalable maintenance processes, manage external partners, and go to the field when things break. You’ll also sit alongside our Hardware Engineering team, analyse failure patterns, flag design improvements, and contribute hands-on to hardware iteration. The two sides of this role reinforce each other: field experience sharpens your hardware intuition, and hardware knowledge makes you a better troubleshooter.

Daily At Sensei, You Will
Maintenance Operations
  • Build scalable maintenance processes: design and implement maintenance routines that ensure maximum uptime across all deployed stores.
  • Own preventive maintenance plans: develop routes, frequencies, and checklists, both internally and with external partners.
  • Go to the field: travel to client locations to diagnose and resolve hardware issues hands-on when needed (expect >30% travel).
  • Develop documentation and playbooks: create guidelines that empower store staff and local partners to handle maintenance autonomously.
  • Manage and grow the partner network: find, onboard, and support external maintenance partners across multiple geographies.
  • Continuous monitoring: oversee health dashboards for each store to enable rapid response and maintain store uptime near 100%.
Hardware & Continuous Improvement
  • Analyse field failures: track recurring issues and translate them into structured feedback for the Hardware Engineering team.
  • Contribute to hardware iteration: participate in design reviews, prototype testing, and field validation of new hardware revisions.
  • Support tooling development: collaborate on diagnostic tools and fixtures that make maintenance faster and more reliable.
  • Identify improvement opportunities: spot patterns across locations and work with engineering to address root causes rather than symptoms.
You Will Bring To The Table
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field is a strong foundation. But what matters most is the combination of hands-on technical curiosity and operational drive, you need to genuinely enjoy both.
  • Hardware & electronics fluency: comfortable working with embedded systems, sensors, cabling, power systems, and PCB-level diagnostics. You can look at a hardware failure and have instincts about what went wrong.
  • Maintenance process mindset: 2+ years of experience managing field maintenance operations, you know how to build systems that scale beyond yourself.
  • Problem-solver under pressure: you stay calm when things break in the field, and you’re driven to find the root cause, not just the workaround.
  • Partner and contractor management: proven experience coordinating external teams and holding them to quality standards.
  • Communication & documentation: able to translate technical findings into clear written guidelines for non-technical audiences.
  • Languages: fluent in Portuguese and English. Spanish or French are a significant plus.
  • Availability: comfortable with frequent travel (>30%) to client locations across Europe.
  • Basic networking knowledge (IP configuration, PoE, switches).
  • Nice to have:
    • Experience with IoT hardware installation and maintenance.
    • Exposure to hardware prototyping or product development cycles.
    • Familiarity with the retail industry.
    • Experience with project management or CRM tools (Jira, Odoo, SAP).
    • Prior experience in a fast-paced tech startup environment.
After Six Months, Success Means
  • You’ve deeply understood Sensei’s hardware stack and can diagnose and resolve most field issues autonomously.
  • Store uptime has measurably improved through more consistent and structured preventive maintenance.
  • A significant share of routine maintenance is handled by trained store teams and local partners, not just your own travel.
  • You’ve documented the most common failure modes and translated them into at least one concrete hardware improvement proposal.
  • You’ve contributed to new tooling or diagnostic processes that make the field team more efficient.
What's In It For You
  • Work on real hardware in real stores, your fixes and improvements have immediate, visible impact.
  • A role where your field experience directly shapes how products are designed and iterated.
  • Competitive salary and a flexible benefits package (gym membership, childcare, retirement savings, your choice).
  • Health insurance and a meal card.
  • Hybrid working model with autonomy over how you structure your time.
  • 27 leave days per year: 22 statutory + your Birthday, Carnival Day, Christmas Eve, and 2 Health-Focus Days.
  • An ambitious, fast-moving team where your input genuinely shapes the direction of the company.
  • Company will provide transportation when needed.
