We’re seeking a Legal Assistant with paralegal scope to support attorneys with litigation administration, court filings, docketing, deadline management, client communications, and case organization. This role is designed for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable handling sensitive legal matters with professionalism and discretion.

You’ll play a key role in supporting legal operations by preparing and organizing documents, tracking court deadlines, maintaining case files, coordinating schedules, and assisting attorneys with legal and administrative tasks.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Education: Paralegal certificate, legal studies coursework, or equivalent legal support training preferred.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, litigation assistant, or legal administrative professional.
  • Skills: Experience with court filings, e‑filing, docketing, calendaring, Microsoft Office, Adobe/PDF tools, legal case management systems, proofreading, and document organization.
  • Characteristics: High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, confidentiality, professionalism, proactive communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Court Filing, Docketing & Deadline Support
  • Prepare, organize, and support filing of pleadings, motions, notices, correspondence, discovery materials, and other legal documents as directed by attorneys.
  • Support electronic filing and service through applicable court systems, ensuring filed documents are accurate, complete, and saved to the appropriate matter file.
  • Calendar and docket court dates, hearing dates, filing deadlines, response deadlines, discovery deadlines, and internal follow‑up dates.
  • Track upcoming deadlines and proactively provide reminders to attorneys and team members to support timely completion of legal work.
  • Assist with drafting, proofreading, formatting, and finalizing legal correspondence, basic pleadings, discovery documents, client‑facing materials, and internal case documents.
  • Gather, organize, label, and maintain case documents, exhibits, records, and supporting materials for attorney review.
  • Support preparation for meetings, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, depositions, and other litigation‑related activities.
  • Conduct basic factual, procedural, and administrative research as requested, and summarize information clearly for attorney review.
Client, Matter & Workflow Coordination
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, vendors, and internal team members while maintaining discretion and confidentiality.
  • Assist with matter intake, client follow‑up, document requests, scheduling, status tracking, and attorney calendar coordination.
  • Maintain accurate matter records, contact information, task lists, case notes, and document management systems.
  • Perform other legal, administrative, and firm‑support tasks as assigned to keep matters and team operations running smoothly.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications (Must-Haves)
  • 2+ years of experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, litigation assistant, or legal administrative professional.
  • Experience supporting court filings, e‑filing processes, docketing, court calendaring, and deadline tracking.
  • Strong understanding of legal document organization, case file management, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong proofreading and formatting ability.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe/PDF tools, email/calendar systems, and legal or case management platforms.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)
  • Paralegal certificate, legal studies coursework, or equivalent legal support training.
  • Experience supporting employment law, business law, litigation, workplace investigations, or related practice areas.
  • Familiarity with Illinois state and federal court procedures, e‑filing requirements, and litigation workflows.
  • Experience using legal practice management, document management, docketing, or calendaring systems.
  • Deadline Ownership: Maintains accurate calendars, tracks critical dates, and proactively follows up before deadlines approach.
  • Detail Orientation: Produces clean, accurate work and carefully reviews filings, documents, and matter records.
  • Confidentiality & Judgment: Handles sensitive client and employment‑related information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Clear Communication: Communicates professionally with attorneys, clients, courts, opposing counsel, and internal stakeholders.
  • Team‑Focused Support: Adapts quickly, assists where needed, and helps attorneys and staff operate efficiently.
