EPAM Systems, Inc. in Colombia seeks a Lead AI Engineer to design production-grade AI agents and data-integrated tool APIs in a cloud-native Python environment.

You will shape agent architectures, ensure observability, and collaborate with distributed stakeholders to ship high-quality outcomes. You will build tool-calling agents, implement read-only data access via Model Context Protocol, develop FastAPI services, and optimize SQL for analytics while maintaining secure, reliable operations

Formación

• 5+ years of production software development experience with Python
• 2+ years of hands-on experience building LLM integrations or AI agents
• Strong leadership and project ownership for end-to-end production services
• Advanced Python 3.11+ skills with AsyncIO and clean architecture practices
• Strong FastAPI skills for backend microservices and tool APIs

Responsabilidades

• Design production-grade AI agent architectures and tool interfaces
• Build scoped AI agents with tool-calling and structured outputs
• Implement read-only Model Context Protocol servers exposing enterprise data
• Develop FastAPI services and asynchronous task handlers for low-risk actions
• Write and optimize SQL for analytic cost datasets with partitioning and clustering constraints
• Establish unit/integration tests and ensure monorepo engineering standards
• Coordinate peer code reviews and govern design quality across teams
