AgileEngine, LLC. is seeking a Backend Developer in Manizales, Colombia to design, build, and maintain scalable systems for a product-focused engineering team.

You’ll work with Java and/or Kotlin, Spring Boot, GraphQL, MongoDB Atlas, and Aurora MySQL on AWS, tackling operational tooling and system architecture. You will collaborate with software engineers, product managers, data scientists, and designers, contributing to code reviews, design discussions, and documentation while focusing on

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend-focused software development experience.
• Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin (Spring Boot).
• Proficiency in MongoDB Atlas.
• Proficiency in Aurora MySQL on AWS.
• Experience building cloud-native distributed systems on AWS.
• Experience with the Spring Boot framework.
• API development with GraphQL (Netflix DGS).
• Experience building and operating large-scale, high-performance systems on a major cloud platform.

Responsibilities

• Take on lower-priority engineering work the team lacks bandwidth for, including compliance and engineering maintenance, cost-savings, observability, experiment clean-up, and operational tool development.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable, performant, and reliable software systems.
• Contribute to system architecture and technical design, validating solutions through data and experimentation where appropriate.
• Participate in code reviews and design reviews to maintain high engineering standards.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, including software engineers, product managers, data scientists, and designers.
• Partner with a Product Manager and fellow engineers to clarify requirements and perform mid-level design work, focusing primarily on coding, testing, and documentation.
