EPAM Systems, Inc. is seeking a Lead Backend Developer to deliver secure, scalable AI-driven API services and orchestration layers. You will connect language models to internal systems, vector databases, and external tools, building robust backend frameworks for rapid product delivery.

You will own API contracts, ensure service reliability, security, and observability while collaborating with frontend, data, and infra teams to enable enterprise-grade AI workflows across global projects.

Formación

• 5+ years backend engineering experience focused on microservices and distributed systems
• Hands-on Python to build high-performance backend services and cloud-native APIs
• Strong RESTful API design and secure coding practices
• Proficient in AWS and containerization with Docker; ECS/EKS
• Experience with AI SDKs (OpenAI, Anthropic/Claude, AWS Bedrock) is a plus
• Hands-on exposure to vector databases and retrieval systems
• Familiarity with LangChain, LlamaIndex, LangGraph, and related tooling (LangSmith, Langfuse, Arize)
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher

Responsabilidades

• Design and build backend API services and LLM orchestration layers
• Own API contracts and service reliability end-to-end
• Integrate LLMs with disciplined systems engineering, observability and cost awareness
• Implement RAG pipelines: ingestion, chunking, embedding, retrieval
• Develop and connect agent tools using LangChain and LangGraph
• Build reusable orchestration frameworks for downstream developers
• Ensure security, privacy, observability, and test coverage across workflows
• Collaborate with frontend, data, and infra teams on architecture and standards
