WSP in Colombia is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our Mine Water Team. You will contribute to hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, design water control structures, and guide projects across Colombia and international teams, including Canada. The role emphasizes collaboration, senior technical leadership, and effective communication.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in related fields, a P.Eng. or pursuing registration, and strong English writing and presentation skills.

Formación

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • 5+ years in Water Resources or Hydraulic Engineering or Environmental Consulting.
  • P.Eng. or pursuing registration.
  • Advanced English communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Responsabilidades

  • Support and lead technical activities related to water resources engineering and mine water management projects.
  • Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, including water balance assessments, flood studies, dam breach evaluations, and river engineering projects.
  • Develop and review technical designs for water diversions, water control structures, channels, culverts, spillways, and related hydraulic infrastructure.
  • Conduct hydraulic and streamflow evaluations to support mining and infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with engineers, environmental specialists, and project managers across Canada and internationally.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing initiatives.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports, proposals, and client deliverables.

The Opportunity

WSP is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our growing Mine Water Team. This role is ideal for a professional passionate about water resources engineering, environmental stewardship, and sustainable mining solutions.

The successful candidate will contribute to multidisciplinary projects across local, regional, and international teams, providing technical expertise in water resources assessments, hydraulic design, and mine water management while collaborating with experienced engineers and consultants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and lead technical activities related to water resources engineering and mine water management projects.
  • Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, including water balance assessments, flood studies, dam breach evaluations, and river engineering projects.
  • Develop and review technical designs for water diversions, water control structures, channels, culverts, spillways, and related hydraulic infrastructure.
  • Conduct hydraulic and streamflow evaluations to support mining and infrastructure projects.
  • Participate in project planning, execution, and coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Collaborate with engineers, environmental specialists, and project managers across Canada and internationally.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing initiatives.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports, proposals, and client deliverables.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in Water Resources Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, or Environmental Consulting projects.
  • Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) or actively pursuing professional registration.
  • Advanced English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.
Technical Requirements
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and PCSWMM.
  • Experience in hydraulic structure design including channels, culverts, weirs, spillways, and water control systems.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS software.
  • Experience preparing water balance models; GoldSim experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience in stream flow monitoring programs is an asset.
  • Knowledge of mine water management practices is highly desirable.
  • Additional language proficiency in French and/or Spanish is considered an asset.
