Job summary

WSP is seeking a seasoned electrical engineer in Colombia to lead proposal development for the Power Area and identify new opportunities through client interaction. The candidate should have strong conceptualization, communication, and organizational skills to explain complex concepts to decision-makers and project teams.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, 5+ years in transmission planning or EMT-based studies, and proficiency with industry software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in large-scale transmission system planning and/or EMT-based design studies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including proposals, reports, and presentations.
  • Experience with DIGSILENT, PSSE, PSLF, PSCAD, ASPEN, ATP, or equivalents.
  • Ability to work in a customer-oriented, project-based environment.
  • Ability to mentor and lead junior engineers.

Role Overview

This position requires a professional with demonstrated experience in proposal development process who is motivated by clients interaction while developing new opportunities for the Power Area. The successful candidate is expected to be self-motivated, possess strong conceptualization skills, and have solid interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both decision-makers and project teams.

Key Competencies / Skills / Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in large-scale transmission system planning and/or EMT-based design studies.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including the ability to prepare proposals, reports, and technical presentations.

Experience with analysis software such as DIGSILENT, PSSE, PSLF, PSCAD, ASPEN, ATP, or other equivalents.

Ability to perform successfully in a customer-oriented, project-based environment.

Ability to provide mentorship and leadership to junior engineers on the team.

Desirable Qualifications

Master’s degree (MSc) or Doctorate (PhD).

Experience in Python scripting.

Experience in modeling HVDC and FACTS systems, as well as in modeling inverter-based resources (IBRs).
