Job summary

IDB Invest is seeking a dynamic Economic Opportunities Officer to advance inclusive and sustainable growth with private-sector clients in Latin America and the Caribbean. You will lead advisory engagements, develop proposals, and ensure high-quality delivery aligned with social inclusion goals.

Applicants should hold a master’s or MBA, have 4+ years in sustainability, and be fluent in Spanish and English, with legal work eligibility for the location. 36-month contract with renewal possibilities.

Qualifications

• Master’s, MBA, or equivalent in economics, international development, public and/or international affairs, finance, business administration, human resources, communications, engineering, or relevant field.
• At least four (4) years of relevant professional experience in the field of sustainability in private sector companies, consultancies, development institutions.
• Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required.
• Must be eligible to work in job location without the need for sponsorship.
• You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
• National staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.

Responsibilities

• Identify and scope new advisory opportunities with industry divisions and regional teams.
• Prepare client proposals, concept notes, and advisory project designs.
• Manage relationships with clients and implementation partners, ensuring timely delivery and quality.
• Coordinate with cross-cutting themes teams and blended finance division for coherent advisory service.
• Conduct social value analyses to identify risks, opportunities and impact value.
