Job summary

Comgent is seeking a Resident Network Engineer to operate and maintain a data centre network onsite in the Columbia area, MD. You will work with customer engineers to troubleshoot incidents and restore service, focusing on reliability for Juniper platforms.

This freelance assignment covers 40 hours per week with potential for extension. Clear communication and the ability to work under pressure are essential; TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph is a stated clearance requirement.

Qualifications

• Experience with EVPN, multicast, OSPF, BGP, RSVP, LDP, and MPLS-TE in data‑center networks.
• Hands‑on Juniper hardware/config experience preferred (QFX/MX/EX/SRX).
• Ability to obtain TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph clearance.
• Familiarity with XML API, NETCONF, REST and gRPC interfaces; Python RPCs and PyEZ.
• Scripting with Ansible/Jinja2; SLAX and Junos scripting.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the data centre network, applying a detailed understanding of routing, switching and services.
• Investigate equipment, hardware, software and network faults with customer engineers and vendor support, working to resolution.
• Open and track technical support cases, provide diagnostic evidence and communicate progress and root-cause findings clearly.
• Identify opportunities to improve network design and operation, balancing self-directed work with customer priorities.
• Deliver informal briefings and formal training sessions to help customer teams understand technologies in use.
