Utopia Design is seeking a dynamic AV & BMS Design Engineer to advance luxury hospitality projects worldwide. You will own design development for AV and BMS systems in villas and boutique hotels, coordinating with architects, engineers, and clients to preserve design intent and high-end performance.

Requires a degree in Electrical or Building Engineering with AV/BMS concentration, 4–10 years' design consultancy or contracting experience, fluent English, and AutoCAD proficiency.

Responsabilidades

• Design AV & BMS engineering systems for luxury villas and boutique hotels, ensuring compliance with codes and client requirements.
• Collaborate with architects, interior designers, and engineers to integrate systems into projects.
• Participate in spatial coordination with architectural and structural models, researching efficient methodologies.
• Resolve technical issues during the design phase.
• Lead the development of detailed drawings and system specifications using CAD tools, with BIM support.
• Oversee equipment selection and market research to align with project needs and sustainability goals.
• Provide input during value engineering discussions to balance cost, quality and performance.
• Supervise design development and review deliverables from third-party designers and consultants.

About The Opportunity

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced AV & BMS Design Engineer to support ongoing design development of several luxury projects worldwide, focusing on boutique hospitality assets. This opportunity requires a creative and technical professional who can deliver efficient and innovative engineering solutions while maintaining the aesthetic and functional standards expected in luxury developments. You will take ownership of design development for luxury villas and boutique hotels' engineering systems. You'll operate independently day-to-day, coordinating with the team when needed and delivering intermediate results weekly. You will collaborate closely with the MEP design manager as your main point of contact, alongside the entire design team — including architects, interior designers, structural engineers, the FF&E procurement team, and client representatives. To succeed in this opportunity, you should have excellent communication and presentation skills, and be punctual, detail-oriented, self-organized, and motivated to deliver quality results.

What You Will Do

• Design AV & BMS engineering systems for luxury villas and boutique hotels, ensuring compliance with local building codes, industry standards, and client requirements.
• Collaborate closely with architects, interior designers, and other engineers to integrate systems seamlessly into the overall project.
• Participate proactively in spatial coordination with architectural and structural models, researching efficient methodologies and systems to preserve design intent and deliver a high-end user experience.
• Resolve technical issues and challenges promptly throughout the design phase.
• Lead the development of detailed drawings, technical documentation, and system specifications using CAD tools, with support from BIM modelers.
• Oversee equipment selection and market research, keeping specifications aligned with project requirements, the latest technology, and sustainability goals.
• Provide input during value engineering discussions to balance cost, quality, and performance.
• Supervise design development and review and approve deliverables from third-party designers, consultants, and surveyors, staying current on regulations and trends across AV & BMS systems in the luxury hospitality sector.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical or Building Engineering with a concentration in AV & BMS systems.
• 4 to 10 years of experience in design consultancy or general contracting.
• Experience working on low-rise residential and hospitality projects - private homes and villas, hotels and resorts.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Professional level of English, both written and verbal.

Nice To Have

• Fluency in Spanish.
• Experience in projects in the Caribbean region.
