Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is hiring an Application Delivery Technical Lead to guide software engineers through design, architecture, and implementation of complex enterprise solutions. You will also develop code modules and ensure alignment with IT standards.

The role blends mentorship and hands-on delivery, collaborating with architects, developers, and business users to deliver reliable systems and scalable designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 5 years of experience in software development.
• 3 years of experience in database technologies.
• 5 years of experience on projects involving SDLC.
• 3 years of experience in systems analysis, defining technical requirements and high-level design.
• Experience in RPG, Java, SQL, Angular, APIs design and implementation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides consultation on business requirements and functional specs in program designs and software solutions.
• Reviews development or modification of highly complex, enterprise-level software solutions.
• Role split: 50% design/mentorship/leadership and 50% hands-on code delivery.
• Develops and validates complex software design prototypes ensuring adherence to architecture standards.
• Guides design and coding of component-based applications across environments.
• Documents detailed requirements, design, and test scripts for enhancements.
• Manages code deployment to production per IT compliance policies.
• Leads project teams to resolve escalated issues with technology partners.
• Mentors others on company methodologies, policies, and controls.
• Offers input on options, risks, costs, and benefits for software designs.
