Job summary

Kraken is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Consumer team. You will own the architecture and delivery of customer-facing Rust backend services powering trading, payments, and crypto experiences, shaping end-to-end features from design to customer impact.

Collaborate with product leadership to drive the roadmap and mentor engineers, using AI to accelerate development and set high engineering standards.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience with deep Rust proficiency across network services, asynchronous code, and distributed systems design.
• Track record of owning systems: architectural decisions in production with taught tradeoffs.
• Product engineering mindset: shipped features from problem to user impact with customer-centric focus.
• Demonstrated impact through mentoring, design reviews, or setting team standards.
• Experience driving cross-team work and aligning multiple orgs.
• AI-first development approach with AI-assisted coding and tooling.
• Ownership mindset, shipping features end-to-end across backend/frontend boundaries.
• Awareness of evolving engineering practices driven by AI.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture and delivery of customer-facing Rust backend services powering trading, payments, and crypto experiences.
• Take ambiguous problems from idea to shipped, measurable outcomes.
• Own features end-to-end including frontend impact and product context.
• Partner with product leadership to shape roadmaps with engineering insight.
• Drive cross-team initiatives across Kraken's trading infrastructure and platforms.
• Mentor mid-level engineers, review designs, unblock teammates, and establish scalable patterns.
• Leverage AI to amplify scope and speed and define good AI-assisted engineering practices.
