Bechtel Corporation seeks a senior Cost Engineer to manage estimation, analysis, and control activities for major projects. You will prepare cost studies, review trends, and implement requirements for cost control, delivering innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.

The role requires directing cost engineering functions, strong data-driven problem solving, and effective communication with project teams and management. Located in Santiago on-site with Bechtel’s global project teams.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree or international equivalent with 8–10 years of relevant experience.
• Proven ability to lead cost engineering functions including estimating, control, analysis and management.
• Strong communication and presentation skills to convey findings to management.

Project Overview

Mining and Metals:

Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition. Job Summary

In this role, you will be responsible for estimating, analysis and control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements or for cost activities which require a high degree of technical skill. You will prepare cost studies, review cost trends, and develop and implement project requirements for cost control. Your detailed analysis will provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges.

Major Responsibilities

• Performing generally non-routine cost estimating, analysis, and control activities.
• Coordinating the implementation of cost monitoring and control standards, techniques, systems, and reports
• Coordinating the development and accuracy of cost reports
• Verifing consistency with previous reports to ensure compatibility and consistency
• Preparing specific budgets in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures
• Investigating the requirements for estimating and/or cost control data
• Collecting and classifies cost data
• Performing budget allocation and reporting/cost control regime for specific construction discipline or group of disciplines
• Identifing cost trends for management attention
• Preparing cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons

Education And Experience Requirements

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge And Skills

• Experience and demonstrated skill in directing cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control, cost analysis, and cost management activities.
• Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex data-driven problems.
• Competence in engineering, procurement, contracting, construction, and startup processes.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to apply sound cost engineering principles, develop conclusions, and present findings to management.
• Ability to develop, review, and ensure the accuracy, consistency, and compatibility of cost reports and related reporting deliverables.
• Ability to prepare budgets, perform budget allocations, and support cost control and reporting activities for specific disciplines or groups of disciplines.
• Ability to investigate requirements for cost estimating and cost control data, and collect, organize, and classify cost information.
• Ability to prepare cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons.
• Knowledge of standard cost reporting.
