SimCorp is seeking a deeply technical FinOps professional to own Azure cost efficiency across the organization. The role focuses on optimizing cloud and AI economics through technical optimization, automation, governance, and informed design decisions.

Working between Engineering and Finance, you will collaborate with architects, DevOps teams, and leadership to improve price-to-performance outcomes across mission-critical investment management software.

About the Role

SimCorp is seeking a deeply technical FinOps professional to own Azure cost efficiency across the organization. The role focuses on improving cloud and AI economics through technical optimization, automation, governance, and informed design decisions. Working between Engineering and Finance, you will collaborate with architects, DevOps teams, and leadership to improve price-to-performance outcomes across mission-critical investment management software. This is a greenfield, engineering-focused position with direct ownership and influence over cost-related decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Optimize Azure usage by right-sizing compute families and SKUs and removing orphaned resources.
• Shape commitment strategies and assess price-to-performance trade-offs across Compute, Service Bus, Storage, NetApp, SILK, and Exadata@Azure.
• Build Power BI and FinOps Toolkit reporting and automate cost anomaly detection.
• Lead shift-left cost-efficiency discussions with DevOps teams before infrastructure is provisioned.
• Establish governance for AI workload costs, including cost per token, model, and inference.
• Own forecasting models used by Finance and develop defensible cloud-spend plans.
• Continuously identify and replace inefficient services with more cost-effective alternatives.
• Translate technical decisions into margin and business-value outcomes.
• Challenge engineering decisions where they create unnecessary cost.

Required Skills

• Extensive experience with Azure infrastructure and cloud cost management.
• Ability to interpret architecture diagrams and cloud cost reports.
• Strong understanding of cloud billing data and the FOCUS specification.
• Proficiency with SQL and Python, or DAX, for working directly with billing data.
• Demonstrated experience delivering measurable cost savings.
• Confidence engaging with and challenging senior engineers.
• Commercial judgment and the ability to connect technical choices with business value.
• Strong ownership and comfort working with ambiguity.
