Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Project Accountant in Santiago to manage ledger accounts, complete monthly journals, and perform reconciliations. You will work with Billing and Accounts Payable to capture all revenue and costs, and produce project cost reports and margin analyses in accordance with Bechtel policies.

You will coordinate with corporate guidance on month-end/year-end accruals and assist with statutory reporting for Chile, requiring strong Excel skills and Oracle GL/JE experience.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing in a bilingual environment (English/Spanish).
• Detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills.
• Solid knowledge of internal controls and the ability to develop and interpret accounting procedures and reports.
• Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and applicable accounting methods and procedures.
• General accounting knowledge, problem-solving, account analysis, and financial adjustment skills.
• Proficient with MS Office suite of applications (e.g. Word, Excel).
• Oracle GL/JE experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Accounting Manager with financial and administrative controls per Bechtel policies and client requirements.
• Oversee project accounting activities including general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, and detailed job cost ledgers.
• Support Chilean statutory reporting requirements for the assigned project.
• Monitor employee receivables and coordinate with project management to keep accounts current.
• Provide financial analyses, cost estimates, forecasts, and ad-hoc management reports as required.
• Coordinate with the Project Accounting Manager to respond to client inquiries and audits.
