FullStack is seeking a Principal SQL Database Administrator to join our talent network and connect with U.S. clients for flexible, project-based development work.

You will integrate directly into the client's team and collaborate with engineers daily, administering Microsoft SQL Server at large scale and ensuring database health and performance across environments.

Formación

• 8+ years of professional DBA experience.
• Advanced English required.
• MS SQL Server admin at large scale (1000+ databases).
• Windows-hosted SQL Server administration expertise.
• SQL performance tuning, troubleshooting and optimization.
• Indexing strategies and index optimization knowledge.
• Analyze execution plans and query performance indicators.
• Identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks proactively.
• Maintain DB health and maintenance practices.
• Establish DBA standards in evolving environments.
• Troubleshoot complex production DB issues and root causes.
• Consultative mindset to improve technical solutions.
• Operate at scale across many databases with ownership.
• CI/CD for applications and database code.
• Attention to detail and a can-do attitude.
• Experience on Agile / Scrum teams.
• Experience with large, complex systems.
• Extreme ownership over work and client goals.

The Opportunity

Join our talent network and connect with U.S. clients for flexible, project-based development work as a Principal SQL Database Administrator.

• You will integrate directly into our client's team and work alongside their existing designers and engineers on a daily basis.

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of professional Database Administration experience.
• Advanced English is required.
• Successful completion of a four-year college degree is required.
• Demonstrated experience administering and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server at significant scale, ideally across 1,000+ databases or an equivalent enterprise environment.
• Deep expertise in SQL Server administration within Windows-hosted environments.
• Strong experience with SQL Server performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL Server indexing strategies and index optimization.
• Strong experience analyzing execution plans, query performance, waits, blocking, locking, and other SQL Server performance indicators.
• Proven ability to identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks proactively.
• Strong understanding of SQL Server maintenance and ongoing database health management.
• Demonstrated ability to establish database administration standards, procedures, and best practices in environments where formal DBA processes may not yet exist.
• Proven experience troubleshooting complex production database issues and determining root causes.
• Consultative mindset with the confidence to challenge ineffective approaches and recommend better technical solutions.
• Ability to operate at scale, prioritizing issues and improvements across a large number of databases without losing attention to operational detail.
• Strong ownership mentality, with the ability to independently manage the health and performance of a large database environment.
• Availability to work with regular overlap during Canadian business hours, aligned with either Vancouver/Pacific Time or Toronto/Eastern Time.
• Ability to work through new and difficult issues and contribute to libraries as needed.
• Ability to create and maintain continuous integration and delivery of applications.
• Forensic attention to detail.
• A positive mindset and a can-do attitude.
• Experience working on Agile / Scrum teams.
• Meaningful experience working on large, complex systems.
