Job summary

Insight Global's client is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to design, build, and scale its payments platform. You will own core services across architecture, production deployments, and operational support, partnering with product, compliance, and engineering leaders.

You will mentor mid-level engineers, drive modernization with cloud-native microservices, and use AI-assisted tools to improve code quality.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Strong experience with C#/.NET or another OOP language (Java, Go, etc.).
• Experience building production-scale backend systems.
• Payments, fintech, FX, or money movement experience.
• Microservices, event-driven architecture, and system design experience.
• Cloud experience required; AWS preferred.
• Daily use of AI development tools such as Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar.
• Product-focused mindset with strong communication skills.
• Experience with AWS services such as SQS, Lambda, ECS, DynamoDB, and S3.
• Experience with distributed systems and high-volume transaction processing.
• Experience leading technical design discussions and mentoring engineers.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services supporting financial transactions and payment platform functionality.
• Build and enhance systems related to onboarding, payments, settlement, foreign exchange, and business-critical financial operations.
• Collaborate with product, compliance, and operational teams to deliver new capabilities from concept through deployment.
• Develop and maintain integrations with external partners and third-party platforms.
• Drive service reliability, monitoring, observability, incident response, and production readiness within assigned domains.
• Participate in architecture discussions, technical planning, and design reviews.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to mid-level engineers.
• Contribute to modernization initiatives involving cloud infrastructure, service-oriented architecture, and platform transformation efforts.

About the Role

This individual will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from architecture and system design through production deployment and operational support.
