Job Location: Zurich, Switzerland

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial Controller to join our team in Zurich. As a key member of the finance function, the successful candidate will play a critical role in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, managing regulatory compliance, and supporting a broad range of finance-related activities in a fast-paced, agile environment.

This role requires a fully qualified finance professional with deep knowledge of the (re)insurance industry, and a strong grasp of regulatory requirements in Switzerland /Zurich as well as of international financial reporting standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to highest standards in financial reporting (for both P&C and L&H), maintain proper accounting record in an accurate, complete and timely manner. The high-quality information/analysis/comments provided should facilitate business steering and decision making.
  • Identify and understand key drivers of company financial results and impact of business written as well as year-end forecast during the course of the year to support external and internal management reporting.
  • Accounting and reporting – manage the closing process effectively via interactive coordination with all functions, prepare Group and Local financial statements review monthly (expenses and investments) and quarterly closings, preparation or review of indirect taxes reporting and filing.
  • Understand the end-to-end process and data flow of the Company to ensure accuracy, completeness and proper recording of any transactions, focus on assuring correct valuation of accounts, foreign exchange impacts and amortisations.
  • Analysis of receivables/payables on a quarterly basis with analysing the aging of accounts which involves close follow-up with Technical Accounting Team for proper reconciliation and facilitation of settlement.
  • Preparation or review of indirect taxes reporting and filing; keep abreast on tax issues and laws’ changes to ensure compliance with the local tax reporting requirements.
  • Know working procedures / processes and continuously look for area of improvements and follow up to put them in place to ensure continuous process effectiveness.
  • Support planning/projection processes by providing financial view estimates on business and expense plan.
  • Always maintain good connection and relationship with Group Finance department
  • Be prepared to proactively contribute in ad-hoc projects within or representing finance function.
  • Ability to deputize his/her manager during his/her absences.

Job Requirements:

  • Fully qualified accountant (e.g., CPA, CA, ACA, ACCA).
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in the reinsurance / insurance industry.
  • Strong understanding of Switzerland regulatory environment.
  • Proficiency in International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS, Swiss GAAP, ISO).
  • Advanced Excel and good Power BI skills and familiarity with SAP for financial systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional, timely way with internal / external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, willingness to get involved and to work across disciplines (hands on attitude much appreciated).
  • Ability to take leadership and build consensus.
