Zusammenfassung

CERN seeks a Vacuum / Thin film coating Technical Engineer to join the surface coating and chemistry team. You will operate PVD coating setups, measure film thickness with XRF, and validate NEG coatings while contributing to tooling design and documentation.

This 24-month, 40-hour week onsite position offers onboarding training, a monthly CHF 5,266–5,793 stipend, health insurance, pension, and relocation support. English required with willingness to learn French.

Qualifikationen

• Experience in vacuum technology and vacuum instrumentation.
• Experience with vacuum materials.
• Basic knowledge of materials properties and characterisation.
• Practical experience in thin films coating advantageous.
• Familiarity with surface treatments advantageous.
• Experience in Ultra-high vacuum advantageous.

Aufgaben

• Operate PVD coating setups (sputtering): assembly, vacuum pumping, bakeout, deposition, disassembly.
• Measure thickness and composition of thin films using XRF.
• Perform validation and quality control of NEG coatings.
• Prepare technical documentation, reports and procedures.
• Contribute to design, procurement, and assembly of coating tooling.
