Job summary

Boschung Mecatronic AG seeks a System & Network Engineer to own and evolve our infrastructure across bare-metal, networking, security and software systems. You will work on Spine-Leaf architectures, OpenStack deployments and distributed storage, driving automation and architecture decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree or equivalent professional experience in Computer Science or related field.
• 3+ years in systems, networking or infrastructure engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with GNU/Linux systems.

To strengthen our Infrastructure team, Boschung Mecatronic AG is looking for a System & Network Engineer who wants to take real technical ownership of the infrastructure behind our digital services. This is not a role where you simply maintain a few servers and forward tickets. You will work across bare-metal infrastructure, networking, security, Linux, Infrastructure as Code, observability and distributed platforms, while actively contributing to architecture decisions and the future evolution of our infrastructure.

If you enjoy understanding systems end to end, automating what should not be done twice, and solving complex infrastructure challenges, this could be a very good fit.

Your tasks

• Manage, maintain and evolve our bare-metal, network and security infrastructure
• Operate and develop Spine-Leaf infrastructure across compute, networking and security layers
• Administer and maintain servers in GNU/Linux environments
• Automate recurring infrastructure and operational tasks using Infrastructure as Code
• Manage network and LIR configurations, including VPN, LAG, Trunk and VLAN
• Monitor platform health and performance, diagnose incidents and identify opportunities for improvement
• Ensure infrastructure availability, performance, robustness and reliability across development, test and production environments
• Actively participate in technical and architectural discussions for our applications and digital services
• Define and plan the future evolution and extension of our infrastructure according to product, service and technology needs
• Collaborate on DevOps activities including application deployments on OpenStack
• Operate and support Ceph clusters and database environments such as PostgreSQL and Scylla
• Contribute to our observability and monitoring environment using tools such as Prometheus and Grafana
• Collaborate closely with IT Support, Product Management, Hardware Development, Sales and external technology partners
• Participate in the on-call service when required

Your profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering or a comparable technical field, or equivalent professional experience
• At least 3 years of professional experience in systems, networking, infrastructure engineering or a comparable role
• Strong hands‑on experience with GNU/Linux systems
• Solid understanding of modern network architecture and technologies
• Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally using tools such as Ansible and Terraform
• Experience with version-controlled infrastructure workflows using Git
• Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana
• Strong networking knowledge, ideally including technologies such as BGP, VXLAN and EVPN
• Experience with virtualized or cloud infrastructure, ideally OpenStack
• Knowledge of distributed storage technologies such as Ceph is an advantage
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Scylla or comparable database technologies is an advantage
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to understand complex systems end to end
• Structured, reliable and solution-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility
• Curious about new technologies and motivated to continuously improve infrastructure, automation and operational practices
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a highly technical multidisciplinary team
