The Sr. Associate, Accounting & Reporting provides accounting and closing skills to ensure accurate accounts and timely reporting of Alcon; ensures high quality of financial data and guarantees compliance with Group and Business Unit Reporting Standards as well as statutory requirements; business partners with designated Local Business Units to ensure that business objectives are met through the provision of timely, accurate, and relevant financial information.

In this role, a typical day will include :

Accounting & Reporting
  1. Support preparation of monthly financial closing according to IFRS and local legal requirements, including financial reporting in the Alcon Reporting software FCRS.
  2. Support preparation of monthly financial reporting tool (APMR).
  3. Ensure the creation and maintenance of adequate accounting records to meet local legal requirements and Alcon standards.
  4. Adopt new accounting standards and requirements according to the Alcon Manual of Accounting (AMA).
  5. Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure accurate financial data (Local Finance, Consolidation and Reporting team, Group treasury, Supply Chain, etc.).
  6. Perform full balance sheet account reconciliations and reviews with stakeholders, ensuring timely cleanup of overdue items.
  7. Handle tax requirements such as VAT in coordination with tax advisors and authorities.
  8. Prepare and process General Ledger transactions.
Compliance and Internal Control
  1. Maintain a strong control environment with no exceptions.
  2. Assist with tax, compliance, and audit reporting processes, providing data to authorities, and act as a point of contact for reporting or compliance questions.
  3. Ensure compliance with the Alcon Financial Control Manual and SOX 404, maintaining relevant internal controls and documentation.
  4. Set up and maintain the local chart of accounts and master data in SAP in collaboration with the affiliate and GL Manager.
  5. Support process improvements and change projects to align with best practices.
Change Management / Projects
  1. Support FRA initiatives and projects led by other departments or sites.
  2. Collaborate across business units to drive efficiencies and standardization.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON :

  1. Basic knowledge of Local GAAP.
  2. Fluency in English (and ideally the local language), both written and spoken.
  3. 3-5 years’ experience in accounting, with basic IFRS knowledge, local tax knowledge (Income tax / VAT), SAP proficiency, and good communication skills.
